Abstract

455,311. Safety razors. TAYLOR, G., Hollinghurst, Kingsway, Penwortham, Preston, Lancashire. April 25, 1935, No. 12401. [Class 30] The depth of cut is adjustable by moving the guard up and down the handle, resilient members such as a spring 28, Fig. 1, or rubber strips 44, Fig. 13, are interposed between the guard 23 and a blade carrier 2, and the guard is moved by means of a nut 22 threaded on the handle 1. The blade 9 is clamped non-adjustably between the end cap 5 and the carrier 2 by means of an apertured sliding spring-pressed plate 10 in engagement with a groove in the end of a spindle 4 which depends from the cap 5. The nut 22 is formed with an index finger 47, Fig. 13, which, in conjunction with a dial on the underside of the guard, indicates the position of the nut and therefore the gap at the edges of the blade. In the form shown in Fig. 13, the nut 22 is threaded on a sleeve 45. The guard 40 is formed with longitudinal ridges 41 adapted to bear upon and compress rubber strips 44 held in grooves in the carrier 43. Specification 374,733 is referred to in the Provisional Specification.
