Abstract

1299255 Dry shaver PHILIPS GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN NV 3 June 1970 [10 June 1969] 26856/70 Heading B4B A dry shaver has a shaver part 1 Fig. 1 with an upper cutter 48 and lower cutter 50, a long hair cutting part with an upper cutter 7 and lower cutter 9, a motor, a drive output member 47 leading from the motor, an operating element 22, and a coupling piece 12 displaceable by the element 22 into either of two working positions in each of which it couples just one of the lower cutters 50, 9 to the member 47. In one embodiment Fig. 1 the drive output member is an oscillated lever 47 having the coupling piece 12 pivoted to its end the operating element 22 engages a projection 57 on the piece 12 to move it between positions in which a forked portion 63 thereof engages a drive pin 49 on the lower reciprocating cutter 50 of the shaver part, or a drive pin 51 on the lower cutter 9 of the long hair cutting part. In a further embodiment Fig. 4 the shaver comprises a shaver part 50 and two long hair cutting parts 2, 2<SP>1</SP>, all the parts having reciprocatable lower cutters. The drive output member 47 is oscillated and carries a coupling piece 12 at one end. The operating element is a slidable cam plate which moves a spring loaded rack 69 engaged with a toothed portion 65 of the coupling piece so that the latter is movable to any of five positions in which it drives the lower cutter of the shaver part and/or one of the lower cutters of the long hair cutting parts.
