Description

Aug. 26, 1952 F. BUSH 7,
HAIR PUSHING ATTACHMENT FOR ELECTRIC HAIR CLIPPERS I Filed July 15. 1949 Francis L. Bush INVENTOR.
Patented Aug. 26, 1952 HAIR PUSHING ATTACHIVIENT FOR ELECTRIC CLIPPERS Francis L. Bush, Washington, D. C.
Application July 13, 1949, Serial No. 104,473
1 Claim. 1
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in attachments for electric hair clippers and the primary object of the present invention is to provide a device that will lift the hair clipper and retain the hairs perpendicular to the skin to be received by the cutting blade of the clipper.
Another important object of the present invention is to provide an attachment for electric hair clippers that is extremely small and compact in structure and which is quickly and readily applied to or removed from a clipper in a convenient manner without in any way harmfully effecting the normal construction of the clipper.
A further object of the present invention is to provide an attachment of the aforementioned character that will function as a fulcrum to perunit a clipper to be held at a predetermined angle relative to a persons head being clipped.
A still further aim of the present invention' is to provide a hair pushing attachment for electric hair clippers that is simple and practical in construction, strong and reliable in use, relatively inexpensive to manufacture, and otherwise well adapted for the purposes for which the same is intended.
Other objects and advantages reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of an electric hair clipper and showing the present invention applied thereto;
Figure 2 is a perspective view of the present invention;
Figure 3 is a bottom plan view of Figure 1; and,
Figure 4 is a longitudinal vertical sectional view of the present invention and showing an electric hair clipper in dotted lines positioned relative to the present attachment.
Referring now to the drawings in detail, wherein for the purpose of illustration, there is disclosed a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the numeral l represents a conventional and well known type of electric hair clip- 1 yieldingly bear against the side edge of the bottom cutter-plate or home plate [2. The ends of the plate 22 are turned upwardly to provide tongues 30 that also resiliently bear against the side edges of the home plate l2.
A further strip of material 32 is integrally formed with the web of the channel shaped extension 26 and is bent to provide a channel 34 that receives the rear edge of the bottom cutterplate or home plate [2.
A reinforcing strip 36 is suitably fixed to the upper surface of the plate 22 and includes a toothed forward edge 38. The teeth of the plate 22 are similar in size and shape to the teeth on the strip 36 and are spaced the exact distance as the teeth on the strip 36.
The plate 22 and strip 36 are inclined relative to the web of the extension 26. The upper surface of the strip 36 bears against the inclined surface l6 of the cutter plate [2 and the pointed ends of the teeth for both plate 22 and strip 36 are disposed between the inner and outer ends of the teeth 24 as such a positioning is critical. Furthermore, the teeth of the plate 22 and strip 26 are aligned with the teeth 24, as shown in Figure 3 of the drawings.
It has been found through use of the present attachment, that hair preceeding the cutting point of the clippers will be urged perpendicular to the skin and the hair cut by the cutter plates will be perpendicular to the skin with the result that the hair will be cut in a smooth, even plane.
I claim:
In an electric hair clipper including a stationary cutting blade having a toothed edge, a hair pushing attachment comprising a plate having a toothed edge, the teeth of said plate being relatively short and considerably shorter than the teeth of said blade, the outer extremities of the teeth of said plate lying on a line parallel to and rearwardly of a line passing through the outer extremities of the teeth of said blade, the
