An electric razor has a long-hair cutter 18 and a perforated mantle 17 co-operating with a cutting head 10, the mantle being carried by a support 16 which is mounted over a casing top 11 and is hingedly mounted on the casing by means of bearings provided at both ends of the long-hair cutter. The bearings are formed by brackets 37 integral with a plate 12 secured to the casing top 11, and extending from the support 16 are integral limbs 38 which can be swivelled into recesses 39 in the casing top 11. This construction prevents hairs severed by the cutter 18 from entering the space below the plate 12. The head 10 is reciprocated by means of an oscillating armature motor having an oscillating lever (15), Fig. 4 (not shown), which projects through an aperture in the plate 12. Integral with the support 16 is a closure member 40 forming a lug 41 which enters under spring action an aperture 42 in the casing top. The cutter 18, which comprises a comb (19), Fig. 3 (not shown ), and a cutting blade (20), is mounted in a slot 23 in the casing top. The cutter 18 can be moved in and out by an adjusting member 29 and an identical member (35), Fig. 2 (not shown), on the opposite narrow side of casing 14 controls an on-off switch for the razor. The casing comprises halves 13 secured together. In a modification, the plate 12 and the casing top 11 are secured to the casing 14 by screwing the plate on to cramps (49), Figs. 4 to 6 (not shown), which are secured to the casing halves by inserting bent portions (50) of the cramps therein. In another modification, the brackets 37 and limbs 38 form bearing lugs (60), Figs. 7 and 8 (not shown), which project laterally beyond the casing top.
