Class 131 A dry shaver comprises at least one set of cutting elements consisting of two reciprocable, toothed cutter elements each overlying, and reciprocating relatively to, a fixed toothed element, the pairs of reciprocable and fixed elements being curved away from each other at their upper and operative ends. As shown, the casing 1 contains an electric or spring motor operating two oscillating levers 2, each of which acts through an insulating buffer 10, to reciprocate a double cutter 3 sprung on a fixed double cutter 5. Each reciprocating cutter 3 comprises a cylindrical member 8, having slots 7 and carrying balls or rollers 6 which roll in a guideway 11, formed by a yoke, connecting the lower ends of the components of the fixed cutter 5, and releasably held in recesses in the shaver head, by spring-pressed balls 13. An attachment 17 having slip rollers 18, is secured by spring lugs to the shaver head, and is easily removable for cleaning or for shaving long hair. In modifications, the junction between the elements of the reciprocable cutter is filled in by soldering to impart rigidity to the cutter, and the toothed ends have additioned apertures.
