My present invention relates to an improved razor and more particularly to a means for mounting and reciprocating the conventional safety razor wherein the razor including its blade is reciprocated in short swift strokes longitudinally of the blade and the blade head so that the razor will vibrate laterally as it is drawn over the face of the user.
While the instant embodiment of my invention is illustrated in conjunction with a razor it will be apparent that the vibrating mechanism may well be employed with tooth brushes, massage equipment and the like.
In the accompanying drawings I have illustrated one complete example of the physical embodiment of my invention according to the best mode I have thus far devised but it will be understood that various changes and alterations may be made in the exemplified structure within the scope of the appended claim.

Figure 1 is a side elevational view of the razor of my invention.
Figure 2 is a bottom plan view thereof.
Figure 3 is a longitudinal vertical sectional view at line 3-.3 of Figure 2; and
Figure 4 is a transverse vertical sectional view at line 4-4 of Figure 3.
Referring now to the drawings in detail I have illustrated the razor of my invention as including the housing 2 which may be fashioned of any suitable material and which has an end wall 4, and a closed tapered rear end 6.
This housing is formed with an interior notch 8 through which revolves the crank I0 journaled as at E2 on the inner face of the housing. A flexible cable shaft M of conventional design and structure is secured in driving relation to the crank by collar 15, and the shaft exteriorly of the housing is covered by the flexible casing I5, while the cap it! encloses the junction of the casing with the housing.
The base 29 for the housing is secured thereto in suitable fashion and is formed with an interior flange 2| and depending side flanges 22.
On the base 20 I employ journal lugs 23 for the pin 24 upon which the lever 26 is pivotally mounted. This lever is formed with an upper fork 28 which bears upon the opposite sides of the crank it and thus oscillates the lever as the crank revolves.
A lower slot 30 in the lever 26 encloses the journal pin 32 secured in lugs 36 on the razor holder 34 and permits relative movement of the pin with relation to the lever as the lower portion of the lever oscillates to reciprocate the razor holder.
In the bearings 38 in the razor holder I employ the guide shafts 49 secured in the depending flanges 22 of the base 20 and the razor holder reciprocates laterally of the housing upon the guide shafts 40.
The razor arm 42 of substantially conventional design is secured to the under side of the razor holder by means of the clip 44, and the head of the razor securing the blade therein is indicated as at 46.
Thus with the flexible connecting shaft suitably powered the crank will reciprocate the razor holder and the razor will reciprocate on the guide shafts through a short stroke of perhaps th inch at a rate of say 2000 per minute.
This vibration of the razor head and its blade will increase the cutting effect of the razor blade and will result in a vastly improved shaving operation with a closer shave and a less painful shave.
Having thus fully described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A vibrator comprising a housing having a recess formed in one side wall; a drive shaft journaled in one end wall of the housing and extending longitudinally of and within said recess; a crank journaled in the bottom wall. of the recess and coupled to the drive shaft to be driven by the drive shaft; a base overlying said side wall of the housing and covering the recess, said base including a flange formed on one surface thereof and fitting into said recess for attachment of the base to the housing, the base having a recess; guide rods extending across and journaled in opposite walls of the base recess: a vibrator block seated in the base recess and slidable transversely of the base on said guide rods; a lever pivotally mounted intermediate its ends upon the base, the opposite ends of said lever being disposed in the housing recess and base recess respectively; and a pivotal connection between one end of said lever and said block for reciprocating the block transversely of the base responsive to oscillation of the lever upon its pivotal connection to the base, the other end of the lever being formed with an open-ended slot engaging the crank by positioning of the base over the housing recess and fitting of the base flange into said housing recess, said lever and crank disengaging on lifting of the base off the housing.
