The lubricant in small quantity passes between the cutters I2 and I3, and thereby facilitates the movement of cutter I2 over the cutter I3.
The movable cutter I2 has a. centrally disposed opening 30 which is engaged by the end 3l of an arm 32 adapted to be vibrated, the end 3I engaging with a reasonably close fit the opening 39. The lower end of the adaptor arm 32 has a sleeve-like member 34 into which the arm 20 of a well-known motor mechanism may be readily inserted. Thereby, connection between the vibratory arm of a known motor mechanism or other means for vibration, is established. The base 35 in the head allows for the necessary clearance of vibrating members.
To hold the cap II and stationary cutter I3 to the head portion I4, the cap II is provided with a recess 31 into which the head 38 of a bolt 39 fits. The bolt 39 has a shoulder or collar 40 which rests upon the stationary member I3, and which passes through an elongated opening 4I of the movable cutter I2. The bolt 39 then passes through a hole 42 of the head portion I4, and has a threaded end 43 enter a recess 45 of the shank I5, in which recess a screw nut 46, having a knurled shoulder 4I, is inserted. Preferably, there are two such bolts 39 and correlated parts, as shown in Figures 3 and 4, to act as a balancing pair. The removal of the bolts and disassemblage of the parts permits of inspection and cleaning.
The top plate II extends from one end of the razor to the other, as shown in Figure 3, and at each end is provided with shoulder guard portions 50 extending from the top of the rounded or dome-shaped plate downwardly to the sides of the razor, as shown in Figures 3 and 5. These exterior guards conne the shaving operation between the same. The ends of the plate II have also downwardly extending anges I, entering recesses 52 of the member I4, so arranged to a1- low play therewithin of the reciprocatingwcutter I2. 'Ihe teeth 53 of the cutter I2 and the teeth 54 of the comb cutter I3, extend between the shoulders 50.
The size of the teeth may be different onone side than on the other, to accommodate different hair cutting conditions. On the right hand of Figure 3 the teeth are ner than those on the left hand side of the razor there shown.
It will have been noticed that the detachable head hasan adaptor, which, when the headhas been attached to any suitable handle or motor casing having means for operating the adaptor, the movable cutter is actuated. This enables the improved headwith the adaptor to be attached to a motor casing of another type of vibratory razor Whose cutting has been found to be unsatisfactory. Also, the improved head may be actuated by a iiexible cable having a wire, as shown in Figure 7.
While I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying my invention into effect, this is capable of variation and modification without departing from the spirit of the invention. I, therefore, do not wish to be limited to the precise details of construction set forth, but desire to avail myself of such variations, modifications and adaptations as come within thescope of theappended claim.
