Abstract

781,616. Dry shavers. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. April 1, 1955 [April 2, 1954], No. 9563/55. Class 131 A shear plate for a dry shaver has cylindrical apertures the generatrices of the cylinders being at an angle other than 90 degrees to the surface of the shear plate. As shown, in Fig. 1, a reciprocated cutting member 21 co-operates with acute-angled cutting edges 20 to sever hairs 18 the angles 23 on the outer surface of the shear plate being rounded off. In the modification shown in Fig. 2 the cutting member 33 has a vibratory motion in the direction of the arrow 24 and enters the apertures 25 in the shear plate, the apertures being enlarged. The skin is pressed back by the cutting member 33 and the hair 28 is severed against the acute-angled edge 29.
