Abstract
1,235,495. Dry shavers. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 2 July, 1968 [5 July, 1967], No. 31557/68. Heading B4B. A shaving head of a dry shaver in which the shear plate has a running surface for a movable cutting member and is provided with hair passages, whilst the shear plate in the area of the running surface has a variable thickness so as to present a non-uniform surface on the side to be pressed against the skin, is characterized in that the running surface portions of different thicknesses are arranged one after the other in the direction of movement of the cutting member. The invention can be applied to a multihead dry shaver having rotatable cutting heads. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the shear plate 1 comprises three portions 2 of smaller thickness provided with cylindrical hair passages 4 and three portions of greater thickness provided with slot-shaped hair passages 5. The cutting member co-operating the shear-plate is movable in the direction of the arrows A-A<SP>1</SP>. In a modification, the shear-plate 7, Fig. 3, cooperates with a rotatable cutting member and comprises six thinner portions 2 having cylindrical hair passages 4 and six thicker portions 3 having slot-shaped hair passages 5. The portions 3 may each have a thickness more than 0À07 mm. e.g. 0À075 mm. or more, and the portions 2 may have each a thickness less than 0À07 mm., e.g. 0À65 mm., or less. In another modification, a circular shear-plate has identical hair passages, Figs. 5, 6 (not shown).
