Abstract

534,069. Shaving appliances. WILKINSON SWORD CO., Ltd., RANDOLPH, H. B., and SINCLAIR, R. W. Dec. 23, 1939, No. 32841. [Class 131] In a dry shaver the perforated guard plate is secured to a mounting plate which is detachably secured to the shaver frame, the cutter blade is provided with transverse cutting ridges and is reciprocated by a lever controlled by two compression springs and vibrated by an electromagnet. The electromagnet comprising a core 8, 9, 10 and coils 11, 12 is supplied with A.C. current and has pivoted thereto a lever 18 to which is secured the armature operating against compression springs 24, 25 the periodicity of the lever &c. being tuned to that of the A.C. current. The spherical end of the lever engages a slot in the cutter plate for driving purposes, the cutter plate, which is curved, being provided with cutting ridges formed by cutting helical grooves in the surface of the plate. A U- shaped washer 36 and spring 35 serve to press the cutter plate against the guard plate 49. The curved guard plate 49 is secured to a mounting plate 48 secured to the shaver frame by latches 42, 43 operated by finger pieces 46, 47. A rubber washer 34 is provided to prevent cut-off hair from entering the interior. Specifications 523,032 and 524,471 are referred to.
