Abstract

933,387. Dry shavers. L. RESSLER. May 31, 1962 [June 14, 1961], No. 21552/61. Class 131. A dry shaver comprises a flexible band 17 extending from front to rear of a housing and over movable blade means 15, the band having a plurality of perforated sections 18, 19, 20, Fig. 4, each adapted to constitute a foil head, and means are provided for moving the band longitudinally so as selectively to bring the sections each to a position over the blade means. The sections 18 to 20 are of different thickness and the perforations of each section are of different size from the perforations of the other sections. The band also has a section 21 having apertures which when disposed over the blade means enable shavings to be expelled from the shaver. The band has another section 23 formed with a single aperture which when located over the blade means enables shavings to be expelled by inverting the shaver. The band has a further section 22 which is adapted to serve as a guard for the blade means. The band has flexible strips 26 each terminating in a spring 27 having a hook 28 engageable with an eye 29 to connect the ends of the band together. The band is disposed within a casing 32. The blade means, which may be reciprocable laterally or in a rotary direction, are driven by an electric motor 5. The band is movable longitudinally beneath the casing 32 by means of a knob 33 connected to the band by a stem 34 which projects from the band through a slot 35 in the casing 32. The shaver has an internal switch which ensures that the motor is cut out when the section 22 or 23 is located over the blade means. Any desired section may be secured temporarily in position, e.g. by providing the underside of knob 33 with a spring-loaded ball to engage recesses in the casing 32.
