Abstract

1463924 Dry shavers SPERRY RAND CORP 13 June 1975 [14 June 1974] 25367/75 Heading B4B An electric dry shaver 10 comprises a casing 11, a main shaving cutter assembly 15 and a trimmer assembly 30 including stationary and movable cutters 38, 40 mounted on a housing element 34 which is pivotably movable on the casing between non-operative and operative positions, springs 60 for normally biasing the housing element towards the operative position and a latch device 68, 74 for maintaining the housing in the non-operative position. The movable and stationary trimmer cutters 38, 40 are mounted between a guard member 39 and the housing element, the movable cutter being connected to a drive member 44 which, when the trimmer assembly is in its operative position, engages with an arm 50 of the main drive member for the shaving cutter assembly 15. The latch device includes a spring 68 which engages a latch projection 74 provided on the guard 39 thereby retaining the trimmer assembly in its non-operative position. Upon operation of a slidable button 72, 73, the latch spring is released thereby allowing the trimmer assembly to move to its operative position under the action of biasing springs 60; a detent spring 65, Fig. 6, locks the housing in the operative position.
