[Also in Division E2] A hair clipper comprises a shearing head, including a stationary comb 26 and a reciprocable cutter 28, the comb having secured thereto a socket member 36, Fig. 5, forming a passageway 38 for slidably receiving a tongue 34 pivotally supported on a plate 42 pivotally mounted on a hinge pin 52 secured to the clipper casing 12, the head when mounted on the tongue being rotatable between an inoperative position, Fig. 4 (not shown), in which the head may be removed from the tongue and an operative position, Fig. 3, in which the head is connected to cutter-driving mechanism, including a motor-driven arm 18 and is locked by a latch 50 which is biased to the locking position by means of a pair of helical springs 54 provided on hinge pin 52, the latch having a depressible push-button 56 to permit the head to be rotated out of the operative position. The latch has a hook-like projection 50b which engages a bevelled edge 36c on the socket member 36 when the latch is biased into engagement with the shearing head. A cantilever spring 48, Fig. 3, urges the shearing head into operative engagement with the cutter-driving mechanism. Free end 48a of the spring 48 engages cam edge 34b of tongue 34 and urges the tongue in a clockwise direction about hinge pin 52. When the tongue is pivoted counterclockwise to its inoperative position, the end 48a of the spring moves past the edge 34b causing the tongue to be held in that position. Shearing head is secured in position by means of wedge projections 37, Fig. 5, on socket member 36 engaging projections 43 on plate 42.
