Abstract

876,245. Dry shavers. HART, W. R. Jan. 11, 1960 [Jan. 9, 1959], No. 863/59. Class 131. In a dry shaver having a driven blade 22 traversing the inner surface of an apertured, stationary cutting plate 18 the body 1 of the shaver has means for engagement with a protective cover 24 when the cover is removed from its protecting position. The cutting plate 18 is supported by upstanding limbs 10 of brackets screwed to the motor casing and is latched to the spring plate 9 by locking members 20. The cover 24 has projections 25 which engage in apertures in the cutting plate 18 and, on removal from the cutting head, in apertures 37 (Fig. 8) in the body 1. In a modification the cover is formed as a flexible shutter or two half-shutters 26, 27 which may comprise, as shown in Figs. 2 and 5, articulated slats of metal or plastic and has projections 29 engaged in guides 28 for sliding movement or are pivoted to fold back against the body to expose the cutting head. A brush for the cutting plate may be housed in a cavity in the body.
