Abstract
549,860. Winding yarns. SCHARER, K. J., (trading as MASCHINENFABRIK SCHARER). June 27, 1941, No. 8097. Convention date, June 5, 1950. [Class 120 (ii)] In a cop-winding machine in 'which the thread guide is carried by a reciprocating rod and is moved there along to build the cop by a feeler member engaging a rod partly threaded around its circumference, the feeler member towards the end of its traverse meets a stop member on the threaded rod which is then moved longitudinally and rocked to release the threads from engagement with the feeler member and permit the latter to be returned to its initial position where it abuts a second stop member on the threaded rod and moves it longitudinally in the opposite direction so that it is rocked to reengage the feeler member with the threaded rod. As shown the thread guide carrier 5 is carried by a sleeve 3 which is coupled to the reciprocating traverse rod 1 by a cone and ball clutch 8 and spring 7. The carrier 5 slidably engages a sleeve 12 of the feeler member threaded to engage the partly threaded rod 16 and carrying the feeler member 10 and the rod 16 carries a pin 21 engaging a helical slot 20 inastationary bushing 19 in the support 2. When the initial portion of the winding attains a certain diameter the feeler member contacts therewith and is rotated slightly so that it and the sleeve 12 moves along the rod 16, contacts with the carrier 5, and, by overcoming the spring 7, moves the carrier slightly along the traverse rod 1. As the winding nears completion a slide 25 is moved so that a projection 25<SP>1</SP> thereon meets a pin 30 on the carrier 5 and moves it against a flange 13 on the sleeve 12 which then strikes an adjustable stop 22 on the rod 16 and moves it longitudinally; the engagement of the pin 21 with the slot 20 causes the rod 16 to rock and disengage its threads from the threads of the sleeve 12 which is returned to its initial position by the slide 25 which also carries a pivoted catch 27 which has engaged the pin 30 on the carrier 5. As the slide 25 approaches the initial winding position a nose 28 on the catch 27 strikes a stud 33 and the catch is disengaged from the thread carrier while the feeler member 10 strikes a second adjustable stop 23 on the rod 16 and causes it to be again rocked to engage the threaded sleeve.
