Abstract

958,742. Sewing machines; unwinding bobbins. SINGER CO. Dec. 20, 1962 [Jan. 2, 1962], No. 48260/62. Headings D1G and D1J. To regulate the axial unwinding of thread T from a spool 16 mounted on a horizontal pin 14, the end of the spool projects into a recess 26 formed at one end of a frusto-conical member 20 also mounted on pin 14 and held non-rotatably thereon by a spring 28 which fits in an annular recess 27 formed in member 20 and has a free end 29 which bears upon pin 14. A spool of larger diameter fits within a recess 25 formed in the larger end of member 20. Thread passes over the circular ends 22, 23 of member 20 on its way to a thread guide 19 situated co-axially with pin 14. As shown,the conical side 21 is slightly concave. In a modification the cone is straight-sided and abuts a circular flanger of greater diameter at its larger end.
