Abstract

1,203,736. Unreeling filamentary material. AMP Inc. 28 Jan., 1969 [19 Feb., 1968], No. 4741/69. Heading D1J. A flyer arm 19 carries a hinged lever 24 that overlaps a drum periphery 32, the cord 9 to be unwound passing through an eye 28 on the lever 24 to cause the lever 24 to pivot in response to varying cord tension and so control the effect of a brake 8 on the speed of the arm 19. A brake operating member 26 connects the lever 24 with the brake 8. The eye 28 is biassed away from the drum by a spring 25. The setting of the eye 28 is adjustable on a screw thread. The arrangement is stated to be such that the draw-off force of the cord 9 on the lever 24 releases the brake 8 and the centrifugal force on the lever 24 applies the brake.
