Abstract
803,156. Sewing machine bobbin winders. SINGER MANUFACTURING CO. Jan. 8, 1957 [Feb. 9, 1956], No. 703/57. Class 112 In a sewing machine bobbin winder comprising an arm 43 which is pivoted at 42, a spindle 44, which is journalled in arm 43, is provided at one end with a driving wheel 46 and is adapted at the other end to receive a bobbin, and a two-armed latch member one arm 52 of which is pivoted at 54 and the other, and curved, arm 56 of which is adapted to engage the thread mass on the bobbin, the arrangement being such that when an end 57 of arm 52 is engaged with an end 58 of arm 43, wheel 46 is held in driving engagement with the machine handwheel, and when the diameter of the thread mass increases to the desired extent end 57 is disengaged from end 58 to permit spring means to move wheel 46 out of driving engagement, a thread-cutting notch 64 is formed in one edge of arm 56 at a position above the spindle 44, whereby, when the bobbin is removed from the latter, the thread can be engaged with notch 64 and severed thereby.
