Class 120(2) A device for securing filamentary material to a spool on which it is to be wound comprises a. tongue 19 attached to the end of a spigot 13 projecting through a hole in the radial flange 15 of the spool so that the. tongue projects slightly above the inside surface of the flange and is so arranged that as the material moves between the tongue and the end surface of the spigot the material is wedged and held firm. In the arrangement shown the spigot 13 is spring loaded and is slidable in a body 11 mounted in a flange. 10 of arbor 16 on which the spool is to be mounted for winding. When the spool is in position the tongue 19 projects through the flange 15. In a second embodiment the spigot is not spring loaded. The device is used in particular in the apparatus for continuous spooling described in Specification 876,842.
