Abstract

1,025,269. Reels. DOWSMITH Inc. Sept. 16, 1963 [Sept. 25, 1962], No. 36376/63. Heading B8M. [Also in Division D1] A winding drum 1 is provided at one end with a dished plate 39 held by a magnet 40 to the drum and centred on a pin 41, the slot 37 between the plate and drum serving initially in the winding process to catch and retain a strand or thread to be wound on the drum. A series of spaced pins 42 prevent the strand entering the slot too deeply and also prevent relative slippage between the plate and drum. In an alternative arrangement (Fig. 6, not shown), the drum has an annular spigot which engages a corresponding recess in the plate. The plate may be secured to the drum by tesnion springs adapted to snap into a groove in the centring pin (Fig. 7, not shown).
