Abstract

953,221. Winding transfer tails. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Jan. 22, 1962 [Feb. 13, 1961], No. 5222/61. Heading D1J. A transfer tail A is wound on a bobbin 6 by bring- ing the bobbin up to speed, and then allowing a projection 7 to entrain the yarn 2 and tension it so that it is stretched against a slotted guide 4 rotatable about an axis normal to that of the bobbin 6. The tensioned yarn 2 presses against one of the slots 8 in the guide 4 and causes the guide 4 to rotate until it eventually releases the yarn to a reciprocating thread guide building the yarn package. The slotted guide 4 has a high inertia so that it will rotate only slowly whilst engaged by the yarn 2 and so cause the transfer tail A to be wound during said engagement.
