Abstract

920,055. Winding yarns. MONSANTO CHEMICAL CO. Nov. 28, 1961 [Dec. 16, 1960], No. 42539/61. Class 120 (2). A drive roller 10 engaging and rotating a bobbin 16, has a groove 14 for traversing the thread 40 on to the bobbin 16 to form a package thereon, means 24 defining a channel 22 adjacent to and in coaxial relationship with the drive roller 10, and means 26 for initially directing the thread 40 into said channel 22 to cause a transfer tail 42 to be wound on the bobbin before the main package is wound thereon. The apparatus is stated to be suitable for draw-winding undrawn synthetic filament, for example of the polyamide type.
