Abstract

A yarn package is formed by first traversing the waste yarn across the normal traverse length of the package, then moving the yarn to one side whilst a transfer tail is wound and finally moving the yarn back to the normal traverse path so that the yarn package is built up on the layer or layers of waste yarn. The last turn of the waste yarn is severed from the transfer tail. The process may be applied to nylon and undrawn nylon.
