Abstract

1,136,768. Yarn packages. D. DELERUE. 9 Dec., 1965, No. 52318/65. Heading B8M. [Also in Division D1] An annular package 1 of synthetic filamentary material and comprising a cylindrical portion and a frusto-conical end portion, has a cylindrical central cavity 2 that is between 75% and 90% of the outer diameter of the cylindrical portion of the package 1, the windings being laid on at a rate of 1À5 to 3 turns around the package for each traverse in a single direction, the package 1 being completely enveloped in a liquid permeable wrapper 4. The traverse stroke, however, is only a fraction of the length of the package since the means for traversing the yarn, Fig. 2 (not shown), applies it with a building motion. The thickness of the cylindrical filamentary portion of the package may be 12À5% of the outer diameter of the package and the angle of the conical end portion may be from 30 to 40 degrees. The drawing shows an optional conical spool 3 of a yielding material such as paper or the like. The wrapper 4 may be of thin cotton. The package permits shrinkage of the synthetic filamentary material during dyeing operations. The apparatus illustrated in Fig. 2 forms the subject matter of Specification 1,136,769.
