Abstract
982,273. Yarn packages. BRITISH NYLON SPINNERS Ltd. Jan. 8, 1964 [Feb. 13, 1963], No. 5775/63. Heading B8M. A double-taper yarn package comprises coils of yarn laid in layers on a former to form an integral yarn supply, with the lay of the coilsi.e. whether cross-wound or parallel-wound, or whether adjacent coils cross one another or are parallel to one another-in an axially or radially distinct wound portion of the package being different from that in another axially or radially distinct wound portion. The package may be a pirn build, or a multi-cycle build in which the traverse stroke at either or both ends of the stroke is alternatively lengthened and shortened throughout the build, or may be a composite build. In examples the lower tapered end portion is wound with the axis of the ring being tilted to form a lay in which adjacent coils cross one another-i.e. as in Specification 800, 555-and the remainder of the package is parallel-wound, or the inner layers are parallel wound, and the outer layers wound as in Specification 800,555.
