529,286. Winding cops. REINERS, W., (trading as SCHLAFHORST & CO., W.). May 26, 1939, No. 15694. Convention date, June 8, 1938. [Class 120 (ii)] Apparatus for winding cops has a traversing drum 4 with a helical groove 9 for the normal traverse and an auxiliary groove 10 for winding a ring of reserve filament at the base of the cop. The return traverse, from right to left in the drawing may be controlled by another helical groove or by the inclination of the thread and it continues until the thread reaches the stop 11, when the ring of reserve filament is wound. The worm 22 rotates the quadrant 21 to turn the stud 17 and so release the arm 13 which is snapped over by the spring 16 thus causing the stop 11 to move the thread into the groove 9 for the forward traverse.
