Abstract

731,354. Finding ends of yarn on bobbins. REINERS, W. March 17, 1952 [April 24, 1951], No. 6842/52. Class 120(2). In order to find the outer end of the yarn on a cop or bobbin, a coil of the yarn is wound on an end of the cop or bobbin tube for engagement by an automatically actuated member which slides the coil off the tube and holds it. A hookmember 6 located between two spring arms 7 engages behind a coil 4 at the bottom end 2 of a bobbin tube formed with one or more axiallyextending grooves which are bridged by the coil. Movement of the member 6 relatively to the arms 7 slides the coil 4 off the tube and grips it between the members 6, 7. If the bobbin be now swung over about its top end so that the latter faces the member 6, the spiral of yarn 3 unwinds, whereupon the coil 4 may be released and drawn into a suction tube 8.
