Abstract

674,785. Bobbins. UNIVERSAL WINDING CO. April 19, 1950, No. 9596/50. Class 120(iii) A bobbin or other yarn package supporting core having a substantially cylindrical barrel b is provided with a ferrule 15 enclosing the barrel and fixedly secured thereto, the ferrule being serrated at one end to provide a plurality of fingers 18 which overlie the barrel in spaced relation to the periphery thereof and are adapted to seize and hold a strand of yarn or the like to attach it thereto. As shown the ferrule is fixed to the barrel by indentation of the ferrule as at 16 and the barrel is recessed at 19 beneath the fingers 18 to provide a space into which the yarn may be drawn. In a modification the fingers 18 are raised outwardly from the barrel to provide a space between them and the barrel. Specification 548,654 is referred to.
