Abstract

795,485. Bobbins. PATONS & BALDWINS, Ltd. July 11, 1956 [Feb. 29, 1956], No. 6344/56. Class 120(3) A cone or tapered bobbin 1, on to which a yarn package 5 is doffed as it is released from a centrifugal pot of a worsted yarn spinning machine, is made of toughened plastic or like pliable material on an aluminium or like metal base 2 and the end 1a which first enters the pot during doffing is formed with equally spaced longitudinal splits 3 which may normally be held closed by an elastic device, such as a rubber band 4, but which enable the bobbin end to be expanded, as by insertion of a conical plug 6, to take up the slackness in the doffed yarn.
