Abstract

659,910. Bobbins. FRAUCHIGER, H. Feb. 25, 1949, No. 5243. [Class 120(iii)] A bobbin o r spool for use in treating yarns with liquids is axially compressible and comprises a supporting spring 1 on which i s threaded a band 2 formed of a flat wire coil. The band 2 includes short coils 3 along its edges, through which the spring 1 is threaded, the size of the coils 3 determining the compressibility of the spool. The ends of the spool are finished by metal elements 4 enclosing the ends of the spring 1 joining them to the adjacent coil. The elements 4 may be of substantially triangular form as shown, or may comprise discs having radial lugs for gripping the adjacent coil, and a central aperture, the margin of which is turned over inwardly to enclose the spring end. The spools may be conical.
