Braiding-machines.-The first few coils of yarn on each bobbin a are wound on a loose spring sleeve b surrounding the bobbin. The winding then proceeds as usual. When the supply of yarn is nearly exhausted the sleeve b will be released and the consequent reduction in tension operates the stop-motion in time to prevent the end of the yarn from passing into the work and so causing imperfections.
