Abstract

[Class 109] The inner and outer covering threads 14, 10 are applied to the elastic thread 3 or other core at substantially the same position. The bobbins 13, 9, for the covering threads may be arranged in two tiers and eccentrically of the core as shown in Fig. 1, or in tiers coaxially with the core as shown in Fig. 10. Alternatively the bobbins for the outer covering threads may be arranged in a ring concentric with but outside of the ring of bobbins for the inner covering threads. In another form, all the outer threads are drawn from one bobbin mounted coaxially with the core, and the inner threads are drawn from a second bobbin mounted above the first bobbin. Roughened or covered take-up rollers 25 may be arranged near the covering position, and a light tension may be applied to the covered thread in its passage from the rollers 25 to the receiving spool 30.
