Abstract

456,293. Yarn packages; bobbins. HIBBERT & BUCKLAND, Ltd., and MEADOWS, C. H., Unwin Road, Sutton-in- Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. Oct. 15, 1935, No. 28435. [Class 120 (iii)] In producing a yarn package in which the wound yarn is drawn off endwise of the package, any knots or the like that are present in the yarn are, during the winding of the package, located at an end face of the package at a radius less than the least radius of the yarn windings at that end. As shown, the yarn 10 is wound on a conical bobbin 12 which has at or near the smaller end a shoulder or end face 12a directed inwards from the exterior and during the winding of the package the lengths of yarn containing knots 13 are laid across the face 12a. The bobbin may be open at the end or formed with a substantially hemispherical top pierced by a central hole and the shoulder may be formed by the end of a sleeve provided on the body of the bobbin.
