Abstract

1,060,775. Devices for seeking thread ends. W. REINERS. March 23, 1964 [March 26, 1963], No. 12183/64. Heading D1J. The curved suction pipe 4 has a slot 6 at the position of minimum diameter of curvature. When a spool end is presented to the mouth 5 of the pipe the thread is drawn off endwise from the spool 1 as at 8a and is then drawn gradually into the slot 6 as at 8b, 8c until it assumes the position shown at 8d where thread can no longer be drawn off the end of the bobbin tube 3. The amount of thread drawn off the spool is thus limited automatically. The end of the slot 6 remote from the spool 1 may be wedge shape. In a modified construction Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown) the mouth of the pipe 4 is provided with a gripping device that can be used to grip the bobbin tube 3 between a reserve coil thereon and the main winding. By pulling the bobbin tube 3 downwardly the reserve coil is stripped from the tube 3 to be sucked into the pipe 4 and be caught in the slot 6.
