Abstract

1,142,955. Winding yarns. W. REINERS. 23 May, 1966 [29 May, 1965], No. 22859/66. Heading D1J. A device by which the thread commencement, not fixed in an underwinding, of a cop 1 to be fed to a winder is grasped by means of a suction nozzle 2, is characterised in that the nozzle 2 is situated within a falling or sliding path of the cop 1 and the nozzle mouth 3 is constructed as an annular gap surrounding the cop. The suction passage 4 is arranged in spiral form around the mouth 3 and the cross section threeof increases in the direction 5 of the suction air current. The width of the mouth 3 is increased by air-guide grooves 6 the centre-line 6a of each of which is arranged in spiral form to produce a powerful air current around the cop 1 to facilitate unwinding the backwinding 1a. Preferably, the nozzle 2 is fixed and the cop 1 falls through and to prevent the cop 1 becoming fast with the nozzle 2 through suction recesses 7 are provided. Barbed needles 8 point in the direction of the air current to prevent the thread commencement, already sucked into the nozzle 2, from being pulled out of the nozzle owing to the backwinding being hooked under one or more other windings. Emery cloth may be provided in addition to or in place of the barbs 8.
