Abstract

A multi-filament yarn is processed by subjecting the yarn to the action of a jet of gaseous medium and twisting the yarn so that the point of action of the jet is disposed at or near the point, disposed above a wind-on bobbin, from which, in the direction towards a traveller, a yarn balloon forms in operation. As shown, multi-filament yarn 1 passes through a guide duct 9 to the traveller of a twisting ring 12 to be wound on a bobbin 14 co-axial with duct 9. The thread balloon formed between the traveller and duct 9 thereby rotates around the latter. The yarn in duct 9 is subjected to the action of a jet of compressed air directed thereon by a nozzle 10, the axis of which is disposed at right angles to the axis of duct 9 and in alignment with the axis of a blind resonance bore 11. Various forms of air treatment devices are described.
