Abstract

955,128. Texturing yarn. ONDERZOEKINGSINSTITUUT RESEARCH N.V. Sept. 24,1962 [Sept. 28,1961], No. 36180/62. Heading D1F. A method, of interlacing the filaments of a twisted or twistless multi-filament thread, comprises directing at least one primary gas stream having a velocity of at least 200 m./sec on to a thread 4 running between guides 3, guiding the gas stream after it has passed the thread into an enclosed space, and subsequently directing the gas on to the thread again at a point or points remote from the initial point of contact. The thread has a tension of between 0.03 and 0.3 gms per denier a twist of up to 40 turns/metre and may consist of a polyamide, a polyester, a polyalkene, a polyacrylinitrile cellulose acetate or regenerated cellulose. The gas has a pressure, at the nozzle 5, between 15 and 11 atmospheres and may be air, carbon dioxide, nitrogen or dry steam. Nozzle 10 may be replaced by two series of slits-one series above and the other series below nozzle 5, Fig. 1 (not shown). Any electrostatic charge formed on the thread may be removed by treatment with water containing a wetting agent and perhaps a sizing agent.
