Abstract

504,220. Winding bobbins. HAMEL, E. April 6, 1938, No. 10521. [Class 120 (ii)] The pivoted bobbin-holder of a drum winding-machine has one or both of the arms, carrying the pivots for the bobbin, provided with members forced by a spring or other constraining means to engage a member having inclined surfaces so that as the holder is moved away from the drum for changing the bobbin, the inclined surfaces force the arms apart to release the bobbin. As shown the arms 4 carrying the bobbin pivots 3 are mounted on a shaft 5 and carry pins 6 urged together by a spring 7 so that their ends engage the member 8 having inclined surfaces 8<1>, 8<11>. In the winding position the pins engage the surfaces 8<111> and when the holder is swung upwards from the drum to change the bobbin the pins move over the surfaces 8<1> to the surfaces 8<11>, the pins and arms being separated against the action of the spring 7 and the bobbin 1 dropping from the pivots 3. In a modification, one arm only is moved as the holder is swung away from the drum.
