Abstract
548,864. Airscrew spinners. WATERS, A. J. G. Feb. 26, 1941, Nos. 2633 and 3157. [Class 114] In an airscrew in which a spinner is supported from the hub by front and rear plates, the front plate carries a resilient or resiliently-mounted member which provides one or more locating surfaces to engage one or more parts carried by the spinner to locate it coaxially with the airscrew without imposing any constraint in an axial direction. In the form shown in Fig. 1, an annular plate 15 bolted to the front support plate 11 carries a ring 17 of fibre or the like which engages circumferentially with a part 19 of a flange 18 secured to the inner surface of the spinner 10, the end of the part 19 preferably being flared inward by as at 20. In a modification, the annular plate is resiliently bolted on the front support plate by means of bosses lined with resilient two-part bushes of rubber or the like. In the form shown in Fig. 3, the annular plate 34 carries a number of resilient disc-like members 35 of rubber or the like with flanged metal sleeves 36 to receive taper-ended locating and driving pins 38 secured to a flange 37 on the spinner 10. Specification 537,651 is referred to in the Complete Specification and Specification 537,649 is referred to in the second Provisional Specification. According to the first Provisional Specification the fibre locating ring (17) may engage the inner surface of a part (19) carried by the spinner.
