Abstract
551,313. Screw propellers. CONSTANT SPEED AIRSCREWS, Ltd., and MARSHALL, F. G. June 14, 1941, No. 7546. [Class 114] A spinner b is secured in a positive and detachable manner to diaphragm supports c, d at both the front and rear of the hub of an airscrew. The front attachment may consist of a number of pins e on the support c engaging in sockets f carried by an annular plate i on the spinner shell and the rear attachment similarly consists of pins e on an annular plate on the spinner shell engaging sockets f carried by the support d. The sockets f may be formed with flanges k and mounted in rubber bushes j. The pins e may be simultaneously locked in engagement with the sockets f, by rings l as described in Specifications 485,903 and 451,553. Each ring is operated by a key introduced through an aperture q in the spinner shell to engage between two pegs r on the ring and pivot on a fixed pin s. A blade spring t normally engaging between the pegs r to prevent accidental displacement of the locking ring is displaced by the key during insertion. The key may be notched as described in Specification 485,903 to prevent withdrawal except when the ring is in the locking position. The fastening devices may be constructed for simultaneous, automatic, independent or successive operation as described in Specifications 514,119, [Group XXV], 537,649, 545,848, [Group XXV], 548,909 and 548,910, [Group XXV]. Specifications 537,451 and 539,880 also are referred to.
