543,219. Airscrew spinners. CONSTANT SPEED AIRSCREWS, Ltd., McGLASSON, R., and MARSHALL, F. G. May 8, 1940, No. 8238. [Class 114] In airscrew spinners of the kind n which an annular space is left between the forwardly apertured outer spinner member a and the nose-cap c and the supports e, f, for the spinner a are constructed so that a free passage therethrough for cooling air for the engine is provided, the nose-cap c is formed as a convex body'of revolution and extends only over the front end of the propeller hub b. The spinner a is supported on the hub b by means either of apertured back and front plates e, f, as shown, or by means of spoked elements as described in Specification 537,451. Such spokes may carry fan blades k to induce a current of air when the aircraft is stationary with the engine running or separate propeller blades may be associated with the supports e, f for this purpose. The cowling enclosing the engine may be provided with interior air deflectors i.
