Screw propellers.-An air screw with a vaned wheel mounted on the shaft in the rear of the main propeller is characterized by the vanes of the wheel being formed as straight or curved blades the generatrices of which are parallel to the direction of travel. The air screw a is mounted on a shaft. b by a boss h having a front extension e and also is provided with a rim f. The vaned wheel is mounted by its hub i on a hollow shaft or sleeve d encircling the shaft f the vanes c being enclosed in a ring g which slightly overlaps the' rim f. The vanes c are formed from generatrices which are parallel to the direction of travel. The shaft d may be coupled to the shaft b, or to any unit requiring power.
