Abstract

1,060,926. Cooling motors. ROTRON MANUFACTURING CO. Inc. March 31, 1965 [Sept. 8, 1964], No. 13691/65. Heading H2A. [Also in Division F1] In an electricallydriven fan of the type in which the motor is substantially surrounded by a hub 12 in the form of a sleeve 14 carrying fan blades 16, auxiliary blades 28 are provided for the purpose of drawing cooling air through the motor in a direction opposite to that of the main flow. The hub 12 is of metallic or integral plastic construction and contains apertures near its periphery which cooperate with auxiliary blades 28 to form a centrifugal fan for cooling the motor. A shroud 29 is provided to prevent recirculation of exhaust air. The motor is mounted on a structure 46 which includes three radially extending spokes 48<SP>1</SP>, attached to a Venturi ring 44.
