Abstract

1,111,616. Air cushion vehicles, NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. 31 May, 1965 [29 May, 1964], No. 22342/64. Heading B7K. [Also in Division F1] An air cushion vehicle comprises two lift fans 2 driven from a common engine 3 through shafting and gearboxes 5, air for each fan being drawn through a vertical duct 9. The lower part of each duct is formed with blades 10 which impart to air passing therethrough a pre-swirl component of velocity which, with fan blades of suitable detail design (Group F1) ensures a substantially radial flow of air into air supply ducts 11.
