Abstract
547,464. Stud and socket fasteners. NEWPORT, H: Feb. 27, 1941, No. 2693. [Class 44] [Also in Group XXXIII] In a locking device for securing together two plate-like members in which the first member 19 carries locking pins 20 which pass through holes in the second member 11 and are engaged by a locking ring 25 having key-hole slots 26, the head 27 of one or more of the pins is of such length and diameter as to prevent movement of the locking ring unless all the pins are fully engaged in the second member. The invention is particularly applicable to the locking of airscrew spinners, in which case a long-headed pin is provided at or near each end circumferentially of separate segments of the ring 19, and the comparatively short heads 23 of the other pins are prevented from remaining on the inner side of the locking rings 25 and the latter moved into locking position with slight distortion of the spinner shell 10.
