Abstract

551,418. Rotor mountings. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and WOODFIELD, T. H. Oct. 31, 1941, No. 14012. [Class 35] [Also in Groups XIV and XXIV] Means for supporting circular and other shaped articles comprises a ring or rings loosely surrounding the article to which ring &c. brackets having lugs or bosses for the supporting or suspending rods or levers are secured the other ends of the rods being connected to a wall or to the framework of a wind tunnel. As shown two rings 1 surround an electric motor and brackets are secured to them at circumferential intervals by studs 5 screwed into washer plates 4 which has the effect of tensioning the rings and forcing the flanges or skirts of the brackets on to the motor whereby the latter is firmly held. Lugs 3 with apertures for the supporting rods are provided or screwed bosses may be substituted for the lugs. In a modification one ring is provided, the studs 5 entering screwed apertures therein so dispensing with the washer plates.
