Abstract

823,518. Cylinders. FICHTEL & SACHS A.G. May 5, 1958 [May 22, 1957], No. 14335/58. Class 122 (1). The opposed cylinders 4, 5, Fig. 1, of a twincylinder compressor are provided with mounting flanges 2, 3 which are secured together and also adapted to be secured to the compressor mounting 1. The flanges 2, 3 are connected by bolts 8 passing through lugs 6a, 7a and, additionally, as shown in Fig. 4, by brackets 22, 23 which are formed on the cylinders 4, 5 and bolted together through lugs 24, 25 provided with spigoted, centring means. The flanges 2, 3 lie within an annular flange on the mounting 1 and are secured to the latter by screws 9. In one modification, the lugs 6a, 7a may be extended in the radial and axial directions of the flanges in order to accommodate two securing screws in each pair of lugs, and in another modification the thickness of the flanges is increased so that pairs of fixing screws may pass chordwise through them.
