Abstract
525,608. Image intensifiers. MULLARD RADIO VALVE CO., Ltd. Oct. 10, 1939, No. 27622. Convention date, Oct. 13, 1938. [Class 39 (i)] The photo-electric cathode and the fluorescent anode of an image-intensifier are enclosed in a spherical electrode which deflects the cathoderays and focuses them on the anode. The spherical electrode 5 may be formed as a metal lining in the tube 1 which encloses the cathode 2 and anode 3. Windows 10, 11 are provided for admitting light to the cathode and viewing the anode. It is stated that this arrangement permits of considerable reduction of the image, with consequent increase in brightness. This reduction may be carried further by means of an annular electrode 12 at an adjustable potential between those of the anode and cathode, the electrode 5 being at an adjustable negative potential with respect to the cathode. The anode 5 preferable consists of some metal, such as oxidized silver, which will absorb excess of the cµsium employed in sensitizing the cathode.
