Abstract
550,655. Cathode-ray tubes. CINEMA-TELEVISION, Ltd., and SAMSON, K. A. R. July 15, 1941, No. 8918. [Class 39 (i)] To reduce dark current in a cathode-ray tube a ring 7 or a narrow annulus of metal is arranged behind the cathode 4 and is connected to a negative potential relative to the cathode so that electrons wandermg from the beam into regions behind the cathode are repelled. The ring 7 may be connected to the modulating electrode 6, for example by being mounted on the same support wires. To reduce highfrequency heating during manufacture the ring may be gapped. The cathode may be ; indirectly-heated as shown or directly heated.
