Abstract
747,858. Cathode-ray tubes. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Oct. 10, 1952 [Nov. 1, 1951], No. 25437/52. Class 39 (1). An electron gun comprises an indirectly heated cathode 9, Fig. 1, and a focusing electrode 14 aligned and spaced apart in a cathode sub-assembly, and a plurality of cylindrical accelerating electrodes 25, 28, 30 aligned and spaced apart in an anode sub-assembly. The electrodes 25, 28, 30 are spaced apart by ceramic members 26, 27, 29. The anode and cathode sub-assemblies are aligned and spaced apart by a housing 36 which fits telescopically into the housing 3 of the anode sub-assembly. The cathode sub-assembly is secured to the housing 36 by means of a sleeve 1. In another embodiment, Fig. 3, the cathode sub-assembly is clamped between the housing 36 and a housing 43 which fits telescopically into the housing 36. The cathode 9 and focusing electrode 54 are secured to a mica disc 48 by metal rings 53, 55 each of which has a series of nipples extending through apertures in the mica disc and welded to the respective electrodes. In the embodiment of Fig. 1, a metallic focusing disc 31 is secured to the first accelerating electrode 30.
